STAGE 98

 Return to the BUILD

“As well as fitting the tailpipes to the rear body, you’ll now connect up the wires coming from the rear body of your model to the circuit board. The side skirts supplied will be used in the final stage and can be kept aside for now.”

Build

Fitting the Tailpipes

Step 1

Retrieve your main Body assembly and turn it upside down on a soft surface. Press the two pins of the Left Tailpipe (in the bag marked ‘L’) into the matching holes at this location on the Rear Body, as shown:

In the same way, press the two pins of the Right Tailpipe (in the bag marked ‘R’) into the matching holes at this location on the Rear Body:

Connecting the Electrics

Step 2

Retrieve your Extension Cable from the previous stage. Carefully unplug the cable in socket 7 of the Circuit Board and add the Extension Cable to the end of the Instrument Panel LED cable, as shown. Then, connect the other end of the Extension Cable back into socket 7 of the Circuit Board.

From what I can tell, this cable reverses the polarity of the wiring. Perhaps the LED was originally wired backwards and this Extension fixes it:

Step 3

To help with the following electrical connections in this stage, here is a table describing them:

PCB SOCKET #FUNCTIONPLUG COLORPLUG DOT COLORSUPPLIED IN STAGE
4Speaker White Brown93
11Left Tail Light LED White Black89
12Right Tail Light LED White Black90

Find the plug of the right Rear Light LED (white with black dot) and feed it forward through the Rear Suspension, as shown:

Continue to feed the plug of this Rear Light LED through the Rear Frame and into the central tunnel of the Interior, as shown:

Bring this Rear Light LED plug inside the Front Frame and connect it to socket 12 of the Circuit Board:

Step 4

In the same way, feed the plug of the left Rear Light LED (white with black dot) and feed it forward, then connect it to socket 11 of the Circuit Board, as shown.

To save extra work, I twisted together the plugs of this Rear Light LED and the Speaker before I fed them forward:

Next, I routed them together through the Rear Suspension components and into the central tunnel:

Finally, I connected the Rear Light LED to the appropriate socket 11 on the Circuit Board:

Step 5

Feed the plug of the Speaker (white with brown dot) along the same path as the right Rear Light LED and connect it to socket 4 of the Circuit Board, as shown.

I ran this Speaker plug in the previous step so I only needed to connect it to the Circuit Board:

Thoughts

We are only a few connections away from completing the electronics of our Miura! Keep the unused Side Skirts nearby as we will install them in the final stage.
