STAGE 62

 Return to the BUILD

“In this stage you’ll assemble and fix the front right wishbone arm to the front frame using the parts supplied with Stage 61.”

This stage will be a near duplicate of the process we used to attach the front left lower wishbone in the previous stage.

Parts

Materials: The Front Left Upper Wishbone Arm is metal, but the other parts are plastic.

Build

The parts supplied in this stage will not be needed until the next stage, so keep them stored somewhere safe for now:

Assembling and Fixing the Front Right Lower Wishbone Arm

As in the previous issue, you may need to use the supplied sandpaper to clear any extra paint from the parts. See the previous issue for details.

Step 1

Retrieve all of your parts (and the screws) supplied with the previous stage. Place the Front Right Lower Wishbone Arm on your work surface with the square pin to the right (circled below). Then, place the two Wishbone Arm Brackets above the Wishbone Arm with the small ‘nut’ details (arrows below) to the right, as shown. This is how they will be orientated as you complete the assembly:

As with the previous stage, slide a Wishbone Arm Bracket over each eyelet of the Front Right Lower Wishbone Arm as shown, and then secure them into place with two (2) Type G screws (one for each). These screws were supplied with the previous stage.

Do not over-tighten these screws as the parts need to be able to pivot. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal. When installed correctly, your Front Left Lower Wishbone Arm assembly should look like this:

Step 2

Slide the lower eyelet of the Front Shock Absorber between these tabs of the Front Right Lower Wishbone Arm, align the holes, and secure it into place with one (1) Type G screw, as shown.

Again, do not over-tighten this screw as these parts need to be able to pivot:

Step 3

Retrieve your Front Frame assembly from the previous stage. With the Front Shock Absorber on top, slide the two Wishbone Arm Brackets into these matching slots on the right side of the Front Frame as shown:

Slide the top eyelet of the Front Shock Absorber into this bracket of the Front Frame:

On the bottom of the Front Frame assembly, make sure the two Wishbone Arm Brackets are pushed in far enough to align the screw holes, then secure them into place with two (2) Type A screws (supplied in the previous stage) as shown:

Step 4

Secure the top eyelet of the right-side Front Shock Absorber to the Reinforcement Crossbar with one (1) Type P screw (supplied in Stage 60):

In the same way, secure the top eyelet of the left-side Front Shock Absorber to the Reinforcement Crossbar with one (1) more Type P screw (supplied in the previous stage):

Thoughts

We now have both front lower suspension arms installed. It is very odd that we keep receiving parts in one stage that will not be needed until the next stage. I hope these catch up to each other soon!
