Attaching the Front Exhaust Manifolds
Step 1
Retrieve your Rear Frame/Engine assembly from the previous stage. Fit the three posts of each Front Exhaust Manifold into the matching holes on the front of the Engine Base so that the ‘long pipe’ ends are routed under the Suspension Arms as shown:
These may be a loose fit until they secured to the Manifold Connection Pipe in a later step:
Fitting the Silencer Support Plate
Step 2
Retrieve your Silencer Support Plate from the previous stage. Slide the straight ends of the Manifold Connection Pipe through the triangular holes in the sides of the Support Plate as shown.
You may find this easier by inserting one end of the Pipe completely through the Plate, then rotating the other end through the other side:
Step 3
Bring this Silencer Support Plate assembly to the rear of the Rear Frame, aligning the pipes and screw holes, as shown:
Secure the Silencer Support Plate to the Rear Frame with three (3) Type A screws (from the previous stage).
If needed, you can carefully lift the Manifold Connection Pipe to access the two outside screws. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal (this oil helps ‘thread’ the holes as we attach the part for the first time):
Align the ends of the Manifold Connection Pipe and the Front Exhaust Manifolds together, then secure them with two (2) Type H screws, one for each side as shown:
Thoughts
With this Manifold Connection Pipe installed, the two Front Exhaust Manifolds should stay in place much better. We will secure them even further in the next stage.
