Fixing the Crankcase Cover and Oil Sump

Step 1

Retrieve your Engine assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Crankcase Cover to the rear end of the Engine Base and secure these parts together with two (2) Type A screws, as shown.

IMPORTANT: The instructions may say to use Type B screws here, but we need to use the Type A screws as they are the screws for metal. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 2

Turn your engine upside down and fit the recessed holes of the Oil Sump over the matching posts of the Lower Engine Crankcase Closure. Make sure this Oil Sump is oriented correctly, as shown:

Secure the Oil Sump into place with two (2) Type B screws.

IMPORTANT: The instructions may say to use Type A screws here, but we need to use the Type B screws as they are the screws for plastic:

Step 3

Firmly press the four pins of the Oil Sump Cover down into the matching open posts of the Oil Sump.

To add a bit of contrasting color here, I ‘painted’ the bolts of this Oil Sump Cover with my Metallic Gold Sharpie:

Then, we can attach this Oil Sump Cover. Make sure this is orientated correctly – the gold drain plug (arrow below) should face the gearbox:

Thoughts

I think we are now finished with the bottom of this beautiful engine. Time to move on to the engine’s accessories!
