Build
Attaching the Gearbox
Step 1
Press the two pins of the Housing Cap into the matching holes at this location on the Left Differential Cover. The D-shaped holes in both parts should be aligned, as shown:
Step 2
Slide the two posts on the back of this Left Differential Cover assembly through these holes of the Differential Body, then firmly press them together until flush, as shown:
Step 3
Firmly press the two pins of the Right Differential Cover into the holes of the Left Differential Cover, capturing the Differential Body in between them, as shown:
Step 4
Fit this Differential assembly to the Transmission/Differential Housing as shown, aligning the locating pin to the center hole:
Secure these parts together from the other side with two (2) Type B screws.
To create a more solid connection, I also used a drop of super glue on the locating pin here:
Step 5
Retrieve your Engine assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Transmission/Differential Housing assembly to this side of the Engine Base, as shown:
Align the tall posts of the Transmission/Differential Housing assembly under the holes in the two tabs of the Engine Base and secure these parts together with two (2) Type B screws, as shown:
Step 6
Fit the raised posts of the Lower Engine Crankcase Closure (cover) over the matching posts inside the Engine Base.
On the bottom of the engine, there is a T-shaped tab (circled below) and a alignment hole (arrow below):
On the Lower Engine Crankcase Closure, there are a matching slot (circled below) and locating pin (arrow below):
As you install this Crankcase Closure, align the slot to the T-shaped tab and press the locating pin into the alignment hole, as shown:
The locating pin may take a bit of force to fit completely flush. Just make sure this side of the Closure is seated all the way, as shown:
Secure the Lower Engine Crankcase Closure to the Engine Base with two (2) Type A screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Thoughts
Once again, almost all of the bolt heads on these transmission parts was already painted so I didn’t need to add any color. Fantastic!
