Attaching the Left Door Panel
Left Door Hinge
Step 1
Retrieve your Left Door assembly from Stage 02. Place the thin rod of the Left Door Hinge into this slot, positioning the hinge as shown:
Place the Hinge Bracket into the matching rectangular recess, over the Left Door Hinge, and align the screw holes as shown:
Secure the Hinge Bracket into place with two (2) Type C screws. This will capture the Left Door Hinge in place.
The tighter you make these screws, the stiffer the door will be when you open/close it. I tend to lean more towards a stiffer hinge operation. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Light Switch
Step 2
Fit the round end of the Light Switch Button over the matching peg, with the post poking through the hole at the rear of the Left Door (arrow below). Secure this button into place with one (1) Type A screw:
Step 3
Fit the Light Switch Housing into the rectangular recess of the Left Door so the square post of the Light Switch Button is resting in this notch:
Secure the Light Switch Housing into place with one (1) Type D screw:
Step 4
Fit the Light Switch into the Light Switch Housing so the switch button (arrow below) is facing the square post of the Light Switch Button, as shown. Note how the wires of the switch are passing under the arm of the Light Switch Button.
Make sure you can push on the round end of the Light Switch Button and activate this tiny switch:
Feed the plug of this Light Switch forward and through the Left Door Hinge, as shown:
Left Door Panel
Step 5
Fit the Left Door Panel to the inside of the Left Door, aligning the screw holes as shown.
Make sure the wiring of the Light Switch is not pinched or trapped as you place this panel:
Secure the Left Door Panel into place with four (4) Type A screws:
Thoughts
I am pretty sure the electrical switch we just installed will turn the interior lights on when a door is open. I am looking forward to seeing how the inner door is going to look at the end of our next stage!
